About Us

For more than 30 years, Hal Cannon and Teresa Jordan have been traveling the backroads of the American West, meeting its people and collecting their stories. They first ran across each other in 1982 at a Sun Valley, Idaho, conference sponsored, appropriately enough, by the Institute of the American West. Their paths didn't cross again until 1991, at which point they had enough sense to get married before they lost track of each other again, and they have been working and playing together ever since. Although Hal works primarily as a producer for public radio and TV and as a musician, and Teresa works primarily as a writer and artist, they frequently collaborate to present the songs and stories of the American West through lectures, performances, and projects such as The Open Road, a series of twenty-four radio documentaries that aired on Public Radio International's popular travel show, The Savvy Traveler, in 1999 and 2000.
